First off, the biggest problem with it: continuity errors. From the very moment that I saw the first EqG and saw that Spike was a dog, I was irritated.
This doesn't mean I don't have one huge problem with it, and that is the fact that Spike is a dog. I'm a huge fan of their human design and of Sunset Shimmer and the Dazzlings. He's a really good character and deserves a lot more respect than he gets.Įquestria Girls/Rainbow Rocks: Before I go into it, I wanna say I love these movies, especially Rainbow Rocks. Anyways, he's usually the character that the writers immediately go to to have a disaster episode. Most of he time, he finds himself in a lot of trouble caused by his immaturity Which, in all honesty, needs to change since after Secret of my Excess we're led to believe he's in his teenage to young adult years. On rare occasions is he written in the show to be helpful. Isolation: Spike is the outcast of the main characters. As it is, Spike has been considerably more generous in his actions than Rarity has, and less greedy. But this is beyond unacceptable especially if you're gonna have her represent generosity. I think she's an adorable character and I so intensely ship Sparity.

Being the pony of generosity, you would THINK that she wouldn't so constantly take advantage of him for free labor, right? Wrong. Rarity's attitude: Even though she returns his love for her on occasion, she frequently and intentionally takes advantage of him. Not to mention he's frequently excluded from battles since he's the only one of the main cast without an element, which I feel needs to be rectified. That drives me absolutely nuts because he was Twilight's friend long before she met the other 5, yet she pays significantly more attention to them than she does to Spike. Twilight's attitude: She consistently has him do nearly all her chores and rarely refers to him as her friend, rather he's her "assistant". Let's take a look at why Spike needs to be treated better: In fact, with the exception of Dragon Quest, The Crystal Empire and Equestria Games, he's been fairly useless! And that's not right! But it seems all too often he's treated with much less respect than the rest of the cast. I know all of them love him like their own. He doesn't deserve the abuse he gets all the time, especially from his own friends! It's mostly Twilight and Rarity, the others are usually nicer to him. But I'm kinda getting tired of Spike being comic relief and the main character outcast, especially since it seems to be the norm for Spike episodes. I liked some of it since some parts were pretty funny. Tell me whether you agree or disagree, and your own opinions on Spike. I wrote this comment on Deviantart and wanted to share it with others. It's just getting old having him as a backup character that doesn't do much besides appear in the show. He's useless in the majority of episodes, left out of missions done by the main 6, had his character demeaned in Equestria Girls along with being useless, and was ignored while Sunset Shimmer rose to the top. It's not only annoying to have a main character be treated as less than that of other main characters, it's a waste because he's a great character with a great personality, and he deserves much more respect than he gets.
